Tough G8 Performance Black is designed for those who want maximum energy from minimal surface area. Performance cells with 24.4% efficiency, based on Maxeon\Sunpower technology, deliver more power per square metre, longer life and a deep-black aesthetic that surpasses standard Tough Black.
The performance is driven by 5D8 – the eighth generation of the Tough series’ five-dimensional technology evolution – where every layer, from the outer surface to the composite sandwich core and internal cabling, is optimized for high output and low losses, even in demanding marine environments. Shadow Optimized ensures more consistent and higher energy production under partial shading, while reducing long-term stress on the panels.
For a seamless design, Tough G8 Performance Black can be combined with Tough Black-Hole to cover irregular areas with one continuous deep-black surface. The panels are supplied without eyelets and are mounted using the included 3M tape and extra primer sheet for the cable protection. Together with the 5-year warranty, you get a clean installation and long-term peace of mind.
Flushed Soft Junction takes cable routing to the next level: an invisible, design-protected solution with an ultra-thin, UV-stable Flush cable and thick tinned conductors inside. The result is highe energy yield, minimal losses and extremely long service life in tough marine environments – without visible cabling spoiling the design.

The Five-Dimensional Technological Evolution
The SUNBEAMsystem Tough series continues to lead with innovative technology. Five “dimensions” work together to create some of the most powerful, efficient and durable solar panels on the market
1. NEW G8 reinforced outer protection: SUNBEAMsystem’s unique surface technology with exceptional UV resistance and high transparency outperforms other “high-performance” coatings, such as ETFE.
2. Premium Maxeon (SunPower) cells: Higher efficiency (more watts per m²), broader light absorption, deep-black colour and longer service life.
3. Expandable, advanced and robust cabling: In-house developed internal cabling, both durable and expandable, ensures long-term performance.

Benefits of a rigid core
Soft panels wear out and lose performance more quickly due to the daily, repeated expansion and contraction that solar panels experience. Adding a metal plate is not a sustainable solution either, as differing expansion between metal and plastic leads to delamination.
With our unique sandwich composite – an integral part of 5D8 – we eliminate this problem and ensure superior durability.
Flushed Soft Junction
SUNBEAMsystem has been a pioneer in Soft Junction technology for more than ten years. The latest and most seamless design is unique and design-protected. The cabling has also been refined – the Flush cable can be glued on the outside or routed through a hole beneath the panel for a completely invisible, cable-free installation.

Comparison of Models and Solar Cells
We use only premium cells from Maxeon\Sunpower, which are top of the line and provide much better performance than Maxeon\Sunpower’s lower-cost alternatives. They are essential for enabling our solar panels to perform at the highest level. The table below compares different models (with explanations of each factor underneath in the original documentation).
Lifetime
Assesses how well the panel tolerates varying conditions, especially partial shading. High-quality Maxeon\Sunpower cells are less sensitive to such conditions and therefore achieve a longer lifespan. Combined with our unique Shadow Optimized technology, this results in significantly improved durability.
Efficiency
Directly linked to panel performance: higher efficiency means more energy from the same surface area.
Shadow Optimized Boost
Premium cells are designed to reduce heat build-up and power loss under shading. The higher the cell quality, the less heat is generated, which improves the effectiveness of our Shadow Optimized technology and increases total energy production – particularly important on boats and in motorhomes.
Aesthetics
For many users, the appearance of the cells matters. High-performance cells are characterised by a deep, uniform black colour.

Tips for Maximizing Your Solar Panels’ Performance
- Install the panels in unshaded locations and use multiple panels to cover larger surfaces.
- Choose black panels if you want to combine them with our Tough Black-Hole solution – this not only improves the aesthetics but also makes it easier to utilise large areas.
For boats and motorhomes, parallel connection is recommended, as it offers the best performance and helps maintain panel lifetime. Use one or more MPPT charge regulators, such as Moonray, which are optimized to maximize the efficiency of parallel-connected panels (for both single panels and panel groups) – especially Moonray with Shadow Optimized – WeatherMAX technology.
This panel is designed for parallel connection. If, for any reason, you need a different setup, we recommend Moonray BOOST or our Tough-IQ panels.
Upgrading to SMART LITHIUM LiFePO4 batteries reduces energy losses during charging and discharging, providing a quick and effective upgrade to your electrical system.
All our smart products can be monitored and controlled via the Mobile Smart Home app, which includes a statistics view to help you optimize overall system efficiency.

Product Information
The Tough G8 series is designed without eyelets and is supplied with a separate sheet of double-sided 3M VHB tape, including an extra primer sheet for the flexible cable connection.
Mounting with 3M VHB not only provides a convenient installation method – it also significantly extends the panel’s service life. If you choose a different installation method, you must carefully follow the manual and use only certified sealants listed there for correct application.
The included installation manual provides detailed instructions for both mechanical mounting and electrical connections, as well as information on how to register the product to apply for extended warranty.
